SLEEVELESS TOP

SIZES:
a) 38.5" -b) 40" -c) 41.5" finished bust measurement.

MATERIALS:
- Katia Venecia: a) 3 -b) 4 -c) 5 balls.
- Size US 9 and US 13 (5.5 mm & 9 mm) knitting needles - or size needed to obtain gauge listed below.
- Size US C (2.5 mm) crochet hook.

STITCHES:
Stockinette St, St.St, Garter St, Crochet Chain.
Pattern St: (worked over 23 sts)
Row 1: (rightside) K1, inc 1 st as given below, K9, sl 2 sts tog as if to knit them together, K1, pass the 2 slipped sts over knitted st, K9, inc 1 st as given below, K1.
Row 2: Purl.
Work these 2 rows for pattern.
Increasing: Make all increases in this pattern by knitting into bar between last st on RH needle and first st on LH needle st.

GAUGE:
With larger needles in Pattern St: 23 sts and 17 rows = 7 1/8"x 7 1/8".
With larger needles in St.St: 10 sts and 14 rows = 7 1/8" x 7 1/8".
NOTE: it is critical to have the correct gauge on this pattern, and it must be blocked to size.

BACK:
NOTE: inc 1 st on right side rows for side seam shaping as follows: at beg of row, K2, inc 1 st as given above; knit to last 2 sts, inc 1 st as given above, K2. With larger needles, cast on a) 42 -b) 44 -c) 46 sts. Work 2 rows Garter St; then work St.St. When back measures 4", a), -b), & -c) inc as given above, 1 st every 8 rows: 3 times [a) 48 -b) 50 -c) 52 sts].
When back measures 9 1/2", change to smaller size needles and work 2 rows garter st; bind off.

FRONT:
With larger needles, cast on a) 45 -b) 47 -c) 49 sts. Work 2 rows garter st; then set up pattern as follows:
Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9: (rightside) a) K 2 tog, K9, inc 1st, work 23 sts Pattern St; inc 1st, K9, K 2 tog -b) K 2 tog, K10, inc 1 st, work 23 sts Pattern St; inc 1st, K10, K 2 tog -c) K 2 tog, K11, inc 1 st, work 23 sts Pattern St; inc 1 st, K11, K 2 tog.
Row 2 and all alternate rows: Purl.

Row 35: shape armhole and neckline: unless otherwise noted, all further instructions are for sizes a), -b), & -c): (K 2 tog) twice, bind off 1 st by passing 1st K-3 tog on RH needle over 2nd K-3 tog, (3 sts decreased), work in established pattern to center 3 sts, sl 2 sts, K1, pass slipped sts over the K1 as before; slip rem a) 24 -b) 25 -c) 26 sts on LH needle to holder; [a) 22 -b) 23 -c) 24 sts rem on RH needle].
Row 36: working on wrong side for left half of front, (P 2 tog) twice, bind off 1 st by passing 1st P-2tog on RH needle over 2nd P-2 tog (3 sts decreased), purl to end of row [a) 19 -b) 20 -c) 21 sts rem].
Row 37 & 38: maintaining center sts in established pattern, repeat decreases on Row 35 = [a) 16 -b) 17 -c) 18 sts rem]; and row 36 = [a) 13 -b) 14 -c) 15 sts rem].
Row 39: (K 2 tog) twice, bind off 1 st as before (3 sts decreased), work existing pattern to end of row [a) 10 -b) 11 -c) 12 sts rem].
Row 40: (P 2 tog) twice, bind off 1 st as before (3 sts decreased), purl to end of row [a) 7 -b) 8 -c) 9 sts rem].
Rows 41 & 42: repeat Row 39 [a) 4 -b) 5 -c) 6 sts rem; and Row 40 [a) 1 -b) 2 -c) 3 sts rem].
Row 43: a) bind off 1 st -b) K 2 tog, bind off 1 st as before -c) K 3 tog, bind off 1st as before.
Right half of front; continuation of Row 35: slip sts from holder to needle, put this needle in LH; put tip of empty needle in center st, 1 row below where work was divided, knit next st, pass picked up st over knitted st; sl 1, K1, PSSO, bind off 1 st as before; work in established pattern to end of row [a) 24 -b) 25 -c) 26 sts rem].
Row 36: (P 3 tog) twice, bind off 1st as before; purl to end of row [a) 19 -b) 20 -c) 21 sts rem].
Row 37: (Sl 1, K1 PSSO) twice; bind off 1 st; work in established pattern to end of row [a) 16 -b) 17 -c) 18 sts rem].
Row 38: work same as Row 36 [a) 13 -b) 14 -c) 15 sts rem].
Row 39: (Sl 1, K1, PSSO) twice, bind off 1 st; work in established pattern to end of row [a) 10 -b) 11 -c) 12 sts rem].
Row 40: (P 2 tog) twice, bind off 1st; purl to end of row a) 7 -b) 8 -c) 9 sts rem.
Rows 41 & 42: repeat row 39 [a) 4 -b) 5 -c) 6 sts rem]; and Row 40 [a) 1 -b) 2 -c) 3 sts rem].
Row 43: a) bind off 1 st -b) K 2 tog, bind off 1 st -c) K3 tog, bind off 1 st.

FINISHING:
Carefully block pieces with a steam iron. Sew side seams. Straps: (make 2) With crochet hook, make a chain 11 3/4" long. Sew one end of each strap to the point on each front; sew other end to top of back, 4" from side seam.

JACKET

SIZES:
a) 40" -b) 43" -c) 45" finished bust measurement.

MATERIALS:
- Katia Venecia: a) & -b) 4 -c) 5 balls.
- Size US 13 (9 mm) knitting needles (or size you need to use for gauge listed below).

STITCHES:
Stockinette St: St.St, Garter St.
Pattern St: NOTE: K-1-B = knit into back lp of next st on LH needle; P-1-B = slip back lp of next st on LH needle to RH needle, twist st and place back on LH needle, purl the st.
Row 1: K-2 B; * YO, bind off 2 sts; K-1 -B, *; rep from * to *.
Row 2: * P-2-B, P1, rep from * to *; P-2-B.
Row 3: * K-2-B; Kl, *; rep from * to *; K-2-B. Repeat only rows 2 and 3 for pattern.
NOTE: When binding off, drop the stitch that was purled into the YO on Row 2: unravel stitch to the first row. This will result in the open work pattern, as shown on photograph.
Increasing: On right side of work: at beg of row K2, with tip of RH needle pick up bar between last worked st and next st on LH needle, slip this lp onto LH needle and knit into back of lp to twist st. At end of row; knit to last 2 sts, inc as before; K2

GAUGE:
In Pattern St: 10 sts and 18 rows = 5 1/8" x 5 1/8".
NOTE: Cast on 14 sts to work gauge; 11 sts rem after row 1. After working 5 1/8 inches, bind off, dropping the designated stitches. Unravel the dropped sts, then carefully steam press the piece to get an accurate gauge and needle size, so that the garment will be the correct size.

BACK:
NOTE: Increase as follows: at beg of right side row, K2, * with tip of RH needle pick up the bar between last worked st and next st on LH needle, slip this lp onto LH needle and knit into back of lp to twist st *, knit to the 2 stitches that will be twisted, turn; sl 1, purl all sts on LH needle, turn; work in established pattern to last 2 sts; repeat from * to *, K2, turn; purl to the 2 stitches that will be twisted, turn; sl 1, knit to end of row.
Cast on a) 38 -b) 42 -c) 44 sts. Work 2 rows Garter St. Set up pattern as follows: On a right side row:
Row 1: a) K6 -b) K8 -c) K9; a), -b), & -c) K-2-B, * YO, bind off 2 sts, K-I-B, *; rep from * to * 5 more times; a) K6 -b) K8 -c) K9 [a) 32 -b) 36 -c) 38 sts rem].
Row 2: a) P6 -b) 8 -c) 9; a), -b), & -c)* K-2-B, P1, *; rep from * to * 5 more times, P-2-B; a) P6 -b) P8 -c) P9.
Row 3: a) K6 -b) K8 -c) K9; a), -b), & -c) * K-2-B, K1, *; rep from * to * 5 more times; K-2-B, a) K6 -b) K8 -c) K9. Repeat rows 2 and 3, until you have worked a total of 10 rows.
Continuing with established pattern and working increased sts in St.St, increase 1st at each edge as given above, every 10 rows: 3 times [a) 38 -b) 42 -c) 44 sts. When back measures 10 5/8", shape armholes: a), b), & c) bind off at each edge: 8 sts 1 time [a) 22 -b) 26 -c) 28 sts. When back measures a) 17 1/4" -b) 17 3/4" -c) 18 1/8", as you bind off all sts, drop each st that was purled into the YO on Row 2, and leave enough yarn at the dropped sts so that the top edge will measure a) 12 5/8" -b) 14 1/4" -c) 15".

RIGHT FRONT:
NOTE: Increase as follows: on right side row, work in established pattern to last 2 sts; with tip of RH needle pick up the bar between last worked st and next st on LH needle, slip this lp onto LH needle and knit into back of lp to twist st, K2, turn; purl to the 2 stitches that will be twisted, turn; sl 1, knit to end of row.
Cast on a) 23 -b) 24 -c) 25 sts. Work 2 rows Garter St. Set up pattern as follows:
Row 1: (right side) a), -b), & -c) sl 1, K1, K-2-B; * YO, bind off 2 sts, K-1-B, *; rep from * to * 2 more times; K-1-B, a) K9 -b) K10 -c) K11: [a) 20 -b) 21 -c)22 sts rem].
Row 2: (wrong side) a) P9 -b) P10 -c) P11; a), -b), & -c) * P-2-B, P1, *; rep from * to * two more times; P-2-B, P2.
Row 3: a), -b), & -c) Sl 1, K1, * K-2-B, K1, *; rep from * to * two more times; K-2-B, a) K7 -b) K8 -c) K9. Repeat rows 2 and 3, until you have worked a total of 10 rows.
Continuing with established pattern and working increased sts in St.St, increase 1 st at armhole edge as given above, every 10 rows: 3 times [a) 23 -b) 24 -c) 25 sts. When front measures 10 5/8", shape armhole: a), -b), & -c) bind off at armhole edge: 8 sts 1 time [a) 15 -b) 16 -c) 17 sts rem]. When front measures a) 15" -b) 15 3/8" -c) 15 3/4", shape neckline: a), -b), & -c) as you bind off at center front edge: 8 sts, drop each st that was purled into the YO on Row 2.
When front measures a) 17 1/4" -b) 17 3/4" -c) 18 1/8"; bind off at armhole edge rem a) 7 -b) 8 -c) 9 sts, dropping the sts that were purled into the YO on row 2, and leaving enough yarn at the dropped sts so that the top edge will measure a) 2 3/4" -b) 3 1/8" -c) 3 1/2".

LEFT FRONT:

Cast on a) 42 -b) 44 -c) 46 sts. Work 2 rows Garter St. set up pattern as follows: a) K4 -b) K5 -c) K6; a), b), & c) K-2-B; * YO, bind off 2 sts, K-1-B, *; rep from * to * 7 more times; a) K4 -b) K5 -c) K6: [a) 34 -b) 36 -c) 38 sts rem].
Row 2: a) K4 -b) K5 -c) K6; a), -b), & -c) * P-2-B; P1, *; rep from * to * 7 more times; P-2-B, a) K4 -b) K5 -c) K6.
Row 3: a) K4 -b) K5 -c) K6; a), -b), & -c) * K-2-B, K1 *; rep from * to * 7 more times; a) K4 -b) K5 -c) K6. Repeat rows 2 and 3.
When sleeve measures 1 1/4", decrease 1 st at each edge every 6 rows: 10 times as follows: on right side rows, dropping the stitch that was purled into the YO on row 2, K2, sl 1 K1, PSSO, work to last 4 sts; K 2 tog, K2. When sleeve measures 15 3/4", dropping the stitch that was purled into the YO on row 2, and leaving enough yarn for the width of those stitches so they will fit into the armholes, bind off rem a) 14 -b) 16 -c) 18 sts, leaving enough yarn at the dropped sts so that the top edge will measure a) 13 3/8" -b) 14 1/4" -c) 15 3/8".

FINISHING:
Carefully block all pieces using a steam iron. Sew shoulder seams on right side of work. Lay garment flat. Matching center of sleeve cap to shoulder seam, sew sleeves into armholes on right side of work, stretching the sts of the back and front if necessary so that the sleeve with fit properly into the square opening of armhole. Sew side and sleeve seams on right side of work.
