COIN LACE STOLE OR SCARF IN PURE BAMBOODesigned by Shui Kuen KozinskiKnit by Lorill Anderson

With silky yarn I strung:
Old Chinese coins -
Ah! Procession of values passé.
Inspired by Kate Gilbert's Clapotis, this Coin Lace scarf/stole is knitted diagonally with a combination of coin lace and long-ladder patterns.
Coin lace, twisted every 4th row, has a cable effect without actual cabling; each twist has an eyelet at the center. Coin lace looks like an old Chinese coin, which is how it gets its name.
Long-ladder stitches are dropped on every right side row. The following is a description of the long-ladder pattern in Mary Thomas' Book of Knitting Patterns, p.100-101: "A stitch, when dropped, will leave an open ladder space about three times the normal width of the stitch, and in closely spaced, long ladder patterns will add considerably to the width of the fabric."
To enhance the fabric structure, the stitch before and after the drop stitch, is knitted through the back loop.
The beautiful natural color, silky luster, and drape of elann.com Pure Bamboo accentuates the coin lace details.
