- Three buttons.
- 3.50mm (US 4), 3.75mm (US 5), 5.50mm (US 9) needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.
STITCHES:
Garter St: knit every st on every row.
1x1 Ribbing: Row 1: * K1, P1, *; rep from * to *. Row 2: work all sts as they appear, (knit all knit sts and purl all purl sts).
Stockinette St = St. St: knit all sts on the rows that are on the right side of your work, and purl all sts on the rows that are on the wrong side of your work.
NOTE 1:
Decrease 1 st for shaping back and fronts as follows:
At the beginning of right side rows, K2, sl 1, K1, PSSO.
At the end of right side rows; work to last 4 sts; K2tog, K2.
NOTE 2:
Increase 1 st for shaping back and fronts as follows:
At the beginning of right side rows: K2, increase in next st.
At the end of right side rows: work to last 3 sts; inc as before, K2

Working each side separately, bind off at neck edge every 2 rows: 5 sts 2 times.

RIGHT FRONT:
Cast on 6 sts. Work these 6 sts for front band as follows: At beginning of right side rows, sl 1, PI, (K1, PI) twice. At the end of wrong side rows, work to last 6 sts (K1, P1) 3 times.
When band measures 5.25", at the end of next right side row, cast on -a) 41 sts -b) 45 sts -c) 49 sts -d) 53 sts: total of [-a) 47 sts -b) 51 sts -c) 55 sts -d) 59 sts].
Next row (wrong side) beginning with a purl row, work added sts in Stockinette St and maintain front band sts in existing pattern.
NOTE: All following measurements are from where stitches were added.
Decrease 1 st at armhole edge as given in "NOTE 1" every 8 rows 2 times:

Instructions:

Work 6 rows Garter St.
Change to middle size needle and work Stockinette St, increasing 1 st at each edge as given in "NOTE 3" alternately every 12 and 14 rows 8 times:

Work Stockinette St for .5".
On next right side row, -a) -b) -c) & -d): * K1, knit into the front loop and then into the back loop of the next st, *; rep from * to * end of row: [-a) 267 sts -b) 291 sts -c) 315 sts -d) 342 sts].
Change to largest size needles and continue in Stockinette St. When ruffle measures 4.5", work 6 rows Garter St; bind off.
Sew lower front band extension to ruffle.
Sew on buttons.
