MATERIALS:
- 5 (7, 8) balls of Filatura Di Crosa Malva.
- 6.00mm (US 10) circular needle, 32" long, OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
- 6.00mm (US 10) needles
- 5.00mm (US 8) needles
- 4.00mm (US G-6) crochet hook
- Waste yarn
- Stitch markers
- Stitch holders
- 7/8" button
- 1 black button hook
- Yarn needle
Note: Circular needle is recommended because of large number of sts; piece is worked back and forth in rows.
GAUGE:
17 sts and 22 rows = 4"/10 cm in St st using larger needle

BOTTOM SECTION:
Using circular needle, waste yarn, and Provisional (Crochet Chain) Cast On, cast on 144 (160, 178) sts; beg St st, placing markers as follows: K18 (20, 22), pm for right Front dart, k18 (20, 22), pm for end of right Front, k72 (80, 90), pm for end of Back, k18 (20, 22), pm for left Front dart, k18 (20, 22). Purl 1 row.
Shape Bottom: (RS) Dec 2 sts every other row 18 (20, 22) times as follows: Knit to first marker, slip marker (sm), ssk, work to 2 sts before fourth marker, k2tog, sm, knit to end - 108 (120, 134) sts rem. Purl 1 row.
(RS) Knit to first marker, sm, *k2tog; rep from * to last marker, knit to end - 72 (80, 89) sts rem.
Shape Bottom Band: (WS) *PI7 (19,21), skp, turn, knit to end. Rep from * 35 (39, 44) times - 18 (20, 22) sts rem each side. Graft sts.
TOP SECTION:
RS of Bottom Section facing, transfer sts from Provisional Cast On to larger needle; join yarn and beg St st. Work even for 2 rows.
Divide for Back and Fronts: (RS) K34 (38, 42) for right Front, bind off 4 sts, k68 (76, 86) for Back, bind off 4 sts; place sts just worked on holder for Back and right Front, k34 (38, 42) for left Front.
LEFT FRONT:
(WS) Continuing in St st, purl 1 row.
Shape Armhole and Neck: (RS) Bind off 2 sts at armhole edge 3 times, then dec 1 st every other row 2 times and, AT THE SAME TIME, work to last 3 sts, pm, k2tog, k1. Continuing armhole shaping, work even on neck edge for 3 (1, 1) rows.
Dec Row 1: (RS) Continuing armhole shaping as established, work to 2 sts before marker, reposition marker, k2tog, work to end.
Rep Dec Row 1 every other row 0 (3, 7) times, then every 4 rows 9 (6, 2) times - 15 (19, 23) sts rem.
Sizes Medium and Large ONLY:
Dec Row 2: (RS) Work to 2 sts before marker, sm, k2tog, work to end.
Rep Dec Row 2 every 4 rows 2 (5) times, end wrong-side row - (16, 17) sts rern after all shaping is complete.
All Sizes: (RS) Bind off 3 (4, 5) sts for shoulder; place rern 12 sts on holder for Back neck.
BACK:
(WS) Rejoin yarn and purl across 68 (76, 86) sts from holder; leave rern sts on holder for right Front.
Shape Armhole: (RS) Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 6 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row twice - 52 (60, 70) sts rem.
Work even until armhole measures 5.75 (6.25, 6.75)”, end wrong-side row; pm either side of center 18 (20, 20) sts.
Shape Neck and Shoulders: (RS) Work across to marker, bind off center sts, join a second ball of yarn and work to end. Working both sides at same time, at each neck edge, bind off 4 sts 1 (2, 4) time(s), then 2 sts 5 (4, 2) times - 3 (4, 5) sts rern each side for shoulders. Bind off all sts.
RIGHT FRONT:
(WS) Rejoin yarn and purl across 34 (38, 42) sts from holder.
Shape Neck and Armhole: (RS) K1, ssk, pm, knit to end. Work even for 3 (1, 1) rows and, AT THE SAME TIME, shape armhole as for left Front.
Dec Row 1: (RS) Continuing armhole shaping as established, work to marker, ssk, reposition marker, work to end.
Rep Dec Row 1 every other row 0 (3, 7) times, then every 4 rows 9 (6, 2) times - 15 (19, 23) sts rem.
Sizes Medium and Large ONLY: Dec Row 2:
(RS) Work to marker, sm, ssk, work to end.
Rep Dec Row 2 every 4 rows 2 (5) times - (16, 17) sts rern after all shaping is complete.
All Sizes: (WS) Bind off 3 (4, 5) sts for shoulder, work to end.
Back Neckband:
(RS) K12, pick up and knit 52 (60, 70) sts along Back neckline, knit, across 12 sts from left Front holder - 76 (84, 94) sts.
Shape Neckband:
Row 1: (WS) P11, spp, turn.
Row 2: Knit.
Rows 3-4: Rep Rows 1-2.
Row 5: P11, sp2p, turn.
Row 6: Knit.
Rep Rows 1-6 - 3 (4, 5) times.
Rep Rows 5-6 - 10 (10, 11)times.
Rep Rows 1-6 - 4 (5, 6) times - 24 sts rem.
RS facing, graft sts.
SLEEVES:
Using smaller needles, cast on 50 (52, 54) sts; beg 1x1 rib. Work even for 8 rows.
(RS) Change to larger needles and St st. Work even for 2 rows.
Shape Cap: (RS) Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row 1 (2, 3) time(s), end on wrong-side row.
Work even for 10 rows.
(RS) Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 6 rows, then 4 sts at beg of next 6 rows - 4 sts rem. Bind off all sts.
FINISHING:
Block pieces to measurements.
Sew shoulder seams.
Set in Sleeves; sew sleeve seams.
Using yarn needle, weave in all ends.
Sew button to left Front neck edge, at beg of neck shaping. Sew hook opposite button.
