GAUGE: 11 stitches and 16 rows = 4"/ 10 cm in pattern stitch using 8.00 mm needles. TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE PATTERN STITCH: Vertical ribs Right side: K. Wrong side: 1 edge st, * K1, P1 *, rep from * to *, end with K1, 1 edge st. INSTRUCTIONS: Back Cast on 45 (49, 53, 59) sts using size 7 mm needles. Cont in pattern stitch, after 8 rows cont with size 8 mm needles. Inc 1 st at each end every 4.75" twice. 49 (53, 57, 63) sts. Armholes When work measures 12.75 (12.75, 12.75, 12.5)" from beginning bind off 1 st at each end once. Then dec 2 sts at each end on every 4th row 4 (4, 4, 5) times as foll: at right edge K tog sts 4, 5 and 6, at left edge slip 5th st from end, K tog sts 3 and 4 from end, pass slipped st over. 31 (35, 39, 41) sts. Shoulders When armholes measure 7.5 (8, 8.5, 9)", bind off first and last 7 (9, 10, 11) sts, slip at center 17 (17, 19, 19) sts for neck onto a length of yarn. Front Proceed as given for back. Neck When armholes measure 5 (5.5, 6, 6.75)" slip at center 9 (9, 11, 11) sts onto a length of yarn. At neck edge bind off on every alt row 1 st 4 times. Bind off shoulder sts at the same height as for back. Sleeves Cast on 23 (25, 27, 31) sts using size 7 mm needles. Cont in pattern stitch, after 8 rows cont with size 8 mm needles. Inc 1 st at each end alt on every 8th and 6th row 8 times. 39 (41, 43, 47) sts. Sleeve top When work measures 16.25" from beginning bind off 1 st at each end once, then dec 2 sts on every 4th row 4 (4, 4, 5) times as given for back. Bind off rem 21 (23, 25, 25) sts loosely. Finishing Join seams. Neck band With double pointed needles pick up approx 44 (44, 48, 48) sts. Cont in rounds in pattern stitch, on 8th round bind off sts loosely in pattern. Sew sleeves in position.
